True health includes not only moving your body well and often but fuelling your body optimally, but I think most of us know from experience that that’s much easier said than done! As a nutrition coach, I help people who are struggling to find that balance and need to figure out the best ways to nourish their bodies and minds to suit their lives.
Here’s how I work:
- First, we’ll examine your current meals and eating habits and make sure you’re getting enough protein. Speaking as a former long-term vegetarian, my definition of a healthy world now includes eating animal protein—and it still includes animals being raised well and treated respectfully. (Here‘s more on my approach to that. I’m happy to work with practising vegetarians or vegans, but you should know it’ll likely be more difficult to reach your goals.)
- Next, we’ll look at the balance of the other macronutrients (aka anything else with calories in it: carbohydrates, fats, and alcohol) that’s right for you at your current size and activity level. And speaking as a mostly-recovered sugar-holic, I definitely know from experience how challenging this can be!
- Finally, we’ll focus on building and sustaining healthy eating habits for the long term and arm you with strategies, insights, and targets alongside some gentle accountability.
- Our mantra? “Monitor, evaluate and adjust.” If something isn’t clicking smoothly or you find yourself plateauing or regressing, I work with you to delve into the triggers and barriers (we all have them) and find a way to break through.
